How To Change The Device Display Language In Android
Undoubtedly, Android is the most popular operating
system on the planet for smartphones and tablets . It is currently
powering all sorts of devices and appliances, from media players, TVs or
personal computers to watches, microwave ovens or fridges. One of the
byproducts to this world-wide presence of Android in our lives is the
need for its users to be able to switch the display language in which
they use their personal devices to their native language. Luckily, most
(if not all) Android smartphones and tablets offer this feature straight
from the box. In the following article, we'll describe the procedure
you need to follow to change the display language of any Android device
to any other language you desire.
NOTE: We used a Google Nexus 5 device running the 4.4.4 KitKat version of the operating system. The procedure is similar on all Android powered devices, so you should be set even if you're running a different version on Android on your device.
Then, scroll the app list until you find the Settings app. Tap on it to open the settings screen.
Once you get inside the device's settings panel, scroll down until you find the Language & input option. Tap on it to open the section that houses the all the language-related settings of your device.
Here, you will find all the settings related to language, from the display language of the device to the spell checker, the virtual keyboard input language or the voice-activated settings. For now, tap on the first option in this screen: Language.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the device we used for the purpose of this tutorial has "English (United States)" set as the main display language. We will change this option to "Romanian". Once you tap on Language, you will be presented with all the languages available for your device. Scroll the list down to the language you wish to set as the main language on your device (in our case, "Romanian" or "Română").
After choosing the desired language, the screen will return to the Language & input section, where you can see that the language you chose was set as the main display language for the device.
You can check that your setting has been applied by navigating through the menus.
Congratulations! You just learned how to switch the device main display language to another language of your choosing. Now you can use your Android device in your native language.

A Word Of Advice
Be advised, though, that by choosing the main display language of the device as a different language, you have only changed the language in which the system menus, app drawer and the Google specific apps (Maps, Photos, Now etc.) will be displayed. The third-party apps you may have installed on your smartphone or tablet may or may not follow or even support the change you just made. Even if they support different languages, this setting may need to be made from within each specific app. Conclusion
